Dr. David Morrison (NASA Lunar Science Institute & SETI Institute)
Many people had heard the rumors that the world would end in December 2012 — and that some astronomical event (like a rogue planet) or cosmic alignment would be to blame. Dr. Morrison discusses the public fears and how they have been inflamed by the media. He sets our minds at ease, showing why there was no reason to worry more in 2012 than any other year, but (more significantly) discusses the growing and alarming trend that news reports and web stories of astronomical discoveries focus on doom and disaster without explaining the full context.
