Wrath of Math | A Racing Problem with a Deceptive Average @WrathofMath | Uploaded 1 month ago | Updated 4 hours ago
A problem concerning the speed of two racers on a track of unspecified distance. One drives 120 mph for the entire course while the other drives 110 mph for the first half and then 130 mph for the second half. Who wins the race? Whose average speed is faster? Important questions indeed. We write and solve an inequality to answer this easily missed question.
