pf: Cubase (EWQL SO Gold, Stormdrum 2)

I'm having a bit of a problem with Windows Movie Maker - the audio doesn't sync with the picture transitions when converting to an AVI file (even though it's all perfectly synced up in the Project window). Does anyone know either how to fix this problem or if there are any other good movie editing freeware on the internet?
