Following our partnership on the acclaimed feature-length documentary film, ‘King Rocker’ (Fire Films, 2020), The Nightingales newly sign to Fire Records and announce a Spring 2025 tour.
One of the UK’s longest-serving, most revered British post-punk bands, The Nightingales, have trailblazed through four decades. Led by the iconic, uncompromising vision of Robert Llyod, the band were finally complete with the addition of Andreas Schmid from Faust on bass, ex-Violet Violet drummer Fliss Kitson, and guitarist James Smith.
Forming in Birmingham, England, by members of punk group The Prefects in 1979. John Robb described them in his definitive book, 'Death To Trad Rock', as “The misfits’ misfits." The Nightingales enjoyed cult status in the ’80’s as darlings of the credible music scene and were championed by John Peel, who said of them, “Their performances will serve to confirm their excellence when we are far enough distanced from the 1980’s to look at the period rationally and other, infinitely better known, bands stand revealed as charlatans.”.
