And now, a new stage.
After two decades of making fire in the Drama Theatre, our resident company Bangarra Dance Theatre will now call the Joan Sutherland Theatre home.
In this new film, we see Artistic Director Frances Rings reflecting on her first performance in the Drama Theatre. The very first Bangarra performance at the Sydney Opera House. Rings now leads the next generation of dancers, passing down songlines and traditions.
In 2025, Bangarra will take to the Joan Sutherland Theatre stage with an extraordinary new work, Illume.
We look forward to Bangarra’s exciting next chapter at Sydney Opera House. We acknowledge and pay respect to the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, on whose Country these powerful stories continue to be shared.
