Created by Declan Shalvey and first introduced in Alien: Thaw, the Submorph – or Wintermorph as it was also known during development – is a variant of Xenomorph XX121 born from the indigenous life on the ice moon LV-695, later named Cocito, that is the most strongly affected by the DNA reflex that has ever been recorded.
Though first introduced in Alien: Thaw, chronologically speaking the first recorded evidence of the Submorph came in Alien: Regicide (aka Alien: Annual 2023) when in 2156 a human spacecraft overran by Xenomorphs crashed on the frozen surface of LV-695.
