ReCoral by Ørsted™ is a proof-of-concept coral restoration trial in partnership with the Penghu Marine Biology Research Center. Learn more at orsted.com/recoral Follow the process as the crew introduce coral larvae into what could become their new home.

ReCoral aims to support natural coral growth on the foundations of offshore wind turbines on the Greater Changhua offshore wind farms in Taiwan. If successful, we hope to scale up this coral restoration method to use on other offshore wind farms.

The novel non-invasive method involves collecting coral spawn that washes up on the shoreline of the Penghu Islands, cultivating it in the laboratory, and then introducing viable coral larvae into mesh cages specifically designed to fit around turbine foundation pieces, with the intention that they will settle and grow there.
