Spring is foaling season, and foals are a real delight. So we couldn’t resist when our Equine Critical Care and Neonatology team invited us to meet Ollie, a foal born prematurely and very ill. Join us as we learn about Ollie’s journey as he prepares to head home.
Our equine care team and facilities are remarkable. We have the equipment to address any medical situation and have personnel on hand for acute cases... 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our foal team provides individual care and keeps their patients hospitalized with their mothers present. In the video you’ll see Molly, the attentive mom, put her head over from the next stall to check on Ollie.
And, of course, we have veterinarians so accomplished that they teach the next generation of veterinary specialists. One of the veterinarians you see in action, our chief of service Dr. Gary Magdesian, has advanced training in internal medicine, emergency and critical care, and clinical pharmacology and is certified in veterinary acupuncture. He’s contributed to textbooks and has a research portfolio that ranges from pharmacokinetics to nutrition of mare’s milk to the red blood cell distribution in septic neonatal foals.
And he’s just one member of the team. We're so proud to work with people who do so much to advance the health of our beloved animals. We hope you enjoy watching this video as much as we enjoyed making it.
