The Lawrence Hall of Science | A Lunar Occultation of MarsMoon Meets Planet on December 7, 2022! A Search the Sky Activity @lawrencehallofscience | Uploaded 1 year ago | Updated 3 hours ago
Now and then the Moon covers a star or a planet. Thats a lunar occultation, and a fine example will happen on December 7, 2022. If you are in the right place at the right time, you can watch Mars hide behind the full Moon and reappear an hour later. For the Western USA it will occur conveniently in the early evening, but elsewhere it will be at other times or not at all! Find out more in this video.
