A lovely great big field a beet.
It was there for so long, but now it is gone.
And never again will we see it.

The field would be ploughed and well tilled.
By the farmer who was very skilled.
He’d open up drills, so straight and so neat.
‘Twas all part of sowing the auld sugar beet.
