'The artist is the star, and we're the effort behind it.'

It's a fitting sentiment from the founder of Derriere L'Etoile Studios — French for 'behind the star' — and a philosophy that has guided master printmaker Maurice Sanchez since 1978.

Over the decades, Sanchez has worked alongside an extraordinary roster of artists, helping translate their ideas into prints through a process built on trust, craft and partnership. From James Rosenquist to Jennifer Bartlett to Claes Oldenburg, each collaboration brought its own creative rhythms and stories.

Christie's is pleased to present 90+ prints from the studio's archive in our Contemporary Online sale this month.
