President Trump's hold on the Republican Party appears as strong as ever. In primaries this week, Trump-backed candidates advanced in Georgia, Alabama and Kentucky. It's a show of force that comes despite the President's weak polling, growing concerns about the midterms and questions over whether Republicans will lose control of Congress. Perhaps the most striking defeat was that of Congressman Thomas Massie. A former Trump ally, now openly critical of Trump on issues ranging from the Epstein files to Israel and Iran, Massie lost to retired Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein, who said he'd be loyal to the President's agenda. One Republican seeking to stay in Trump's good graces despite being on politically shaky ground is Texas Senator John Cornyn. On Tuesday Trump chose to endorse Ken Paxton, the state's controversial Attorney General, over Cornyn in the Texas Senate race. That primary is happening next week. David A. Graham is the author of "The Project," which examines how Project 2025 is reshaping America. Graham joins the show to discuss what this moment tells us about the future of the GOP and the upcoming midterms.
