I wrote this song back in 2007 with Wynn Varble and Don Poythress on the porch of a cabin on Old Hickory Lake, north of Nashville. We originally wrote it for an artist who we were working with at the time, but he ended up passing on the song, and it sat on a shelf for a few years, until country newcomer Easton Corbin recorded it in 2010 and took it all the way to #1.
This performance and video with Bill Gaither was filmed in the concert hall here at our farm in 2018 as part of an album project and tv special called “The Singer & The Song”, a look back on Joey’s and my short, but enduring music career together. It’s always a treat to get to sit down and talk with Bill and share songs and stories together. For many years, he’s been, and still is, a big influence and personal hero of mine.
