Ya'la al-'Amiri reported: "Al-Hasan and al-Husayn came running to the Prophet ﷺ, so he hugged them and said, 'Indeed, children are a reason for avarice and cowardice.'"
These nouns that the Prophet ﷺ used are on the pattern of mafʿalah which indicates the cause or the reason for something.
So mabkhalah is the cause of bukhl (avarice / stinginess). And, majbanah is the cause of jubn (cowardice).
