Animal Liberation TV | A letter from Barry Horne, Summer 1997 @animalliberationtv | Uploaded March 2022 | Updated October 2024, 15 hours ago.
In this video I read out a letter from Barry to myself, written in the summer of 1997 after he had been on remand about 8 months and had just been charged with a whole range of offences, 13 of which carried a tariff of between 15 to 20 years prison sentence each.
Of course, we know he went on to receive 18 years and carry out further hunger strikes.
In the January of 1997 he had carried out a 35 day hunger strike against animal experiments, which he mentions in this letter.
Barry shows another side of himself in this letter which I want to share with you, to help humanise him and help show you a bit of the man, behind what has now become the myth.
