Astronomers have found a tiny dead star, named WD 1856+534, which is located at about 80 light-years away from us in the constellation of Draco. WD 1856+534 is basically a small white dwarf which is approximately half as massive as the Sun and is only 40% larger than our home planet, Earth.
When astronomers were studying this star they've found a giant planet orbiting very close to it. It’s a Jupiter-sized planet is called WD 1856 b which is 7 times larger than its host star.
However, astronomers still wonder that, how did this planet survive its host star's death?
