The U.S. Army has enlisted the help and expertise of the National Institute of Standards and Technology to develop performance requirements for their Army boots. NIST tested and made recommendations that could improve impact attenuation, puncture resistance and water absorption and drainage. These recommendations will improve soldier footwear and could lead to better shoes for us all.
