The Severn Valley Railway 2025 winter gala was held on the first weekend of January and the homefleet were all available and raring to go. The gala would see full line trains only and with an extensive timetable. The highlights of the event were the return of GWR 1450 and GWR 7812 Erlestoke Manor. In regards to 1450 it was decided that the engine wasn't ready to haul services on its own, so it was paired with resident pannier tank 7714 which provided some fine double headed action. Along with the spirited display's from the tank engines, Erlestoke Manor seemed to be the firm favourite across the weekend with some barnstorming runs, one of those features here. In this video I have opted to solely focus on Great Western Locos only. I did travel the trains on Saturday and that left me with only Sunday left and the weather in the afternoon was poor so we was limited to what I could capture and my main concerns were capturing 1450 & 7812, as I captured quite a lot of the homefleet throughout 2024.
Still, this was fine event with lots of great wintry scenes backed up with some enthusiastic loco performances. Looking ahead to 2025, the mainline scene looks quiet with the usual repeat railtours with mark 2 stock and diesel assistance. We may see what's on offer through half term in February and stick to our favourite preserved railways until the mainline scene starts its revival. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the action.
