A glider with a second chance ❤️🩹
This adult Yellow-bellied Glider was found entangled in a barbed-wire fence, with severe injuries to his patagium, the delicate membrane that helps him glide between trees.
In a remarkable turn of fate, he was taken to @Cooranbong & Bonnells Bay Animal Hospital, where Dr Dolly Jackson provided urgent care. Having recently completed Taronga’s Veterinary Professional Training in Wildlife Treatment course, Dr Jackson had the skills and confidence to act fast, giving this little glider a fighting chance.
After initial surgery, she personally transferred him to Taronga Wildlife Hospital, where he’s now undergoing intensive rehabilitation. Over the past month, he’s needed careful physiotherapy to help his fragile gliding membrane heal. As the tissue repairs and contracts, his ability to glide is still limited, making a full recovery slow and uncertain.
