While traveling through the backroads of northern Arizona, we discovered a remote historic site marked on an OnX Offroad route simply as the JD Cabin and Grave. What was originally planned as a quick stop quickly turned into an entire standalone adventure through rugged forest roads outside Williams, Arizona.
Hidden deep within the forest, the JD Cabin offers a glimpse into Arizona’s remote frontier history, complete with weathered structures, old remnants of the past, and a sign referencing a nearby gravesite. While we never located an actual grave, the area’s age and history leave plenty of room for mystery surrounding the site.
In this episode, we explore the cabin, the surrounding landscape, and the isolated backroads that led us there — one of those unexpected Arizona detours that ended up becoming a highlight of the trip.
What started as “just a quick stop” somehow became enough footage for its own episode.
