Based on Steve Ramsey's design (youtube.com/watch?v=PyciVpmVm1w) which he just calls a 'noise maker', these have always been known as 'football rattles' in the UK.

So far I've just made the basic components, and Amy's going to help me finish it - sanding, gluing, varnishing (or maybe waxing) etc. She has a homework task to make 'a toy that moves', so we thought this would do.

Just like Steve's, it's really quite surprisingly loud!
