Mike Burbach has been editor and vice president of the St. Paul Pioneer Press since 2011. Prior to that he was the editorial page editor there. A 1982 graduate of the University of North Dakota, he’s worked in newsrooms in the Dakotas, Detroit, Columbus, Ga., and Akron, Ohio. He’s long been involved in news-business efforts related to diversity and open government. In his younger days, he worked as a paper boy, a hoer of sugar beets, a planter of potatoes, a grocery boy, a meat-cutter, a Hertz Rental Car agent, a waiter and bartender. He and his wife and three daughters live in St. Paul.
