We are two years into the COVID-19 pandemic but the virus is still disrupting societies across the globe. In 2021, it felt like light was at the tunnel with the introduction of innovative mRNA vaccines designed to counteract the virus. In Ireland, vaccine uptake has been positive with 10.1 million doses administered and 77.2% of people fully vaccinated but in December, the new Omicron mutation threw hopes off course as cases started to spiral.
