We drive from Ouray to Telluride in Colorado. As the crow flies, Telluride is only about 10 miles from Ouray. However, to get from Ouray to Telluride on paved roads, one must make a loop around the Sneffels Range that involves traveling on three different highways. We start by heading north on US Highway 550. When we reach the town of Ridgway, we head in a southwesterly direction on Colorado SR 62. This takes us up and over the 8,970 foot Dallas Divide Summit. We descend the summit and eventually get to Colorado SR 145. We take this highway up a scenic canyon in a southeasterly direction until we reach Telluride.
