Rest in Peace Dolly Parton. The co-owner of Dollywood theme park sadly passed away today aged 80 and the park has kindly sent over some tribute footage this evening that I've compiled into this montage.

Dolly Parton's dream was to create an attraction in her home region and no matter how much fame and fortune she had amassed she never forgot where she came from.

After speaking publicly about this idea and to give back to the community the idea caught the attention of jack and Pete Herschend. The Herschends who owned the current theme park thought to blend it with Dolly’s celebrity profile and they joined forces to create Dollywood.

In 1986, Dolly Parton became a partner in the theme park alongside Herschend Family Enterprises and the park was given a whole new identity with Dollywood opening the park to the public on May 3, 1986.
