In the 1980s and 1990s a new disease struck the cattle herds of the United Kingdom. Thousands were displaying odd behaviours. This threat to the food chain was made even more catastrophic when it eventually became clear the disease was transmissible to humans. What would become known as Mad Cows Disease led to the destruction of millions of livestock, widespread panic and the deaths of hundreds from a new lethal disease, a disease with a 100% fatality rate and no known cure.
