Yesterday was one of the most difficult days in my 5-year career as a community teacher and leader.
I had this meeting on my mind the whole week. All day I was thinking, “What should I do with my students?” I wanted activities that included everyone, that didn’t exclude anyone, that were fun, interactive, easy-going—and still meaningful. Something they could learn from and feel proud of.
I searched on Google, I asked ChatGPT, but nothing felt like what I needed.
And thank God, in the evening, I finally trusted my own mind. I created not one, but three activities. And then I saw everyone having fun—struggling with the language, yes—but laughing, connecting, trying.
I think most teachers feel this from time to time. We wonder if we’re enough. If we’re doing the right things for you.
But my heart feels so full when I see my students smiling.
That’s when I feel safe.
