So this is what my weird mind created I think 2 months ago? Then I was struggling with like 30 remaining seconds for another month. And here it finally is.
And what is that, you may ask... Well this is a story heavily inspired by Grishaverse's Shadow and Bone, more specifically The Darkling and Alina relationship. You know, this darkness vs light trope, full of passion, anger and drama. This is NOT an edit about this book, although you may feel darklina vibe here.
The story is basically that:
She is the light and he is the darkness. He brings out her wild impulses and she ignites his rotten heart. They play this game through centuries: The game of love, want and betrayal. The game of power, control and ideals.
They pushed each other away with force as strong as the one that kept them coming back over and over again.
Once they believed that combining their power will make the world a better place, that it is the only way to find balance. But it could never last. Darkness could never exist with light in peace. When they get too close one always pushes the other away.
And so when his heart faltered with a flicker of warmth, the corruption reached for it again, claiming what belonged to her. So He betrayed Her. Thought it was the end, that shadows will surround the world for eternity like they did his broken heart. But she emerged again.
And then again, and again.
How wasn't she dead? Haven't he drawn his sorrow in corruption to not feel it anymore? Haven't he hold her lifeless body? No, she really is there and he is relieved. He could never admit it to himself but she is important to him. However, she starts to understand that he is not the only one with the power to lead in this eternal dance.
The eternal dance of darkness and light, life and death. They cannot escape it no matter how hard they try. No matter if they subdue to the magnetic force or run away from each other. It always chases them.
The prophets tell them that it was meant to be. That this dance of theirs is what maintains the balance of this world. That darkness will forever give in to light just to regain control again after time being. But they don't want to believe it. He kills the prophet and they fall apart again. Finally it is her who strikes the fatal blow. And she believes that light was always supposed to win. That this is how it was meant to be. But is it really? Was he gone forever? Maybe the prophets were right through the centuries and they really can only ever exist together?
