18-year-old Bailey Harris is the author of the Stardust Science series for young readers.
At the age of eight, Bailey was inspired to write My Name Is Stardust, a beautifully illustrated children’s book that presented science in a manner accessible to children. The two subsequent books, Stardust Explores the Solar System (2018) and Stardust Explores Earth’s Wonders (2019), continued in that tradition, presenting concepts such as astronomy, geology, biology, and principles such as the Big Bang and evolution to young people.
Now Bailey is releasing her fourth book, The Adventures of Stardust & Friends: Darwin's Journey, which follows Darwin to the Galapagos Islands to understand the evidence that led him to develop his theory of evolution by natural selection. Bailey's ability to present complicated topics in a simple and engaging way is truly impressive. (And yours truly had the great honor of writing the foreword!)
In this conversation, I ask Bailey about her journey into science communication for young people. She's truly an inspiration.
