In this video, we're going to breakdown a bebop 251 lick which I transcribed from Charlier Parker the other day.
Charlie Parker's use of notes and way of articulating them are so unique and should be studied by every jazz musician. If you want to develop your bebop language, then transcribing and getting familiar with Charlie Parker's music is one of the best things you can do.
This major 251 lick is a great example of Parker's style. It makes use of chord tones, approach patterns and chromaticism.
I recommend transposing it into several other keys as well as practicing it in the context of some jazz standards to help internalize it.
