THE PLOT:
At the onset of World War I in 1914, Canadian veterinarian Harry Colebourn (Michael Fassbender) is on his way to join his regiment in Europe. During a train stop in Ontario, he encounters a trapper selling a helpless orphaned black bear cub. Unable to leave her behind, Colebourn rescues the cub for $20, naming her "Winnie" after his hometown of Winnipeg.
Winnie quickly becomes the beloved mascot of the 2nd Canadian Infantry Brigade. Despite the chaos of war and military opposition, Colebourn brings Winnie to England. When his unit is deployed to the frontlines of France, Harry entrusts Winnie to the safety of the London Zoo. There, a young boy named Christopher Robin Milne forms an unbreakable bond with the gentle bear—inspiring his father, A.A. Milne, to write the immortal tales of *Winnie-the-Pooh*.
