A few weeks ago Simon tackled an amazing 5x5 puzzle by Dorlir and Jonesy was so inspired by that sudoku that he decided to create a 9x9 version. This is a worthy successor and super-interesting in its own right. Whether it's helpful to have solved the first, we'll let you decide!

Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply. A digit in a circle indicates how many times that digit must appear in circles. Each counting circle is the center of a 3x3 area which contains 9 unique digits. (The circle on the edge of the grid only reaches 6 cells.) Digits separated by an X sum to 10.
