The audience entranced, drawn into the ebb and flow of tunes that hinted at distant lands and limitless possibilities.A radiant glow illuminated the stage, casting waves of shimmering light across the audience in hues of purple and blue, witness of a moment unlike any other as the travelers emerged from the gateway. The music resonating with their elemental essences, merging with the electronic beats, a bridge between two worlds light years apart, the harmonious convergence.They felt the melodies speaking a universal language—one of harmony and wonder, an enduring power transcending boundaries. The enthralling soundscape was for that brief interlude capable of blending realms together.=======================================Has it really been 8 years since the last AMV? That's crazy. Well I haven't been totally inactive during this time since I still managed to create some stuff and a lot of other things have happened also. Have I still got my flow? This is probably not what you were expecting, nothing really fancy or ground breaking but this project contains a lot of moving parts and is technically several levels above my previous productions even though most of the required micro adjustments are mostly invisible in the final product. I won't bore you with the details. I really haven't been keeping in touch with the new generation of AMV people so it's hard for me to tell if this is still considered triple A production but in my own world this is a significant achievement. And yes I'm calling it AMV, sue me.Anyway, I got the idea for this one after new year 2023 while on the shuttle to Stockholm airport listening to some random electro-pop compilation. Suddenly, this song pops up. I ended up listening to it in loop during the entire journey without noticing that it was from Schiller, one of my favourite electronic music band from when I was a teenager. I pictured a recreation of a live performance enhancing the synth melody and blended with some anime. The original plan was to make something quick and easy but I ended up making something a bit more sophisticated and special in celebration of 20 years since my first AMV was released on the 31th of May 2004.I was beginning to get serious about AI tools and started experimenting with rotoscoping tools and Genshin Impact trailers. The direct output was less than ideal but served as good basic draft to confirm the compositing and timing. It then required lengthy and laborious manual adjustments both in positive and negative masks, at 60 fps of course. It probably was overkill but I wanted to see how far I could push it. I'm really not sure that the AI rotoscoping ended up saving me a lot of time as the character and costume design in Genshin is so intricate with overloaded backgrounds making the AI very confused at times. Some sequences required up to 10 hours of work to get things right, a sort of brain-dead job that I could focus on while listening to podcasts or re-watching old series, a great escape from real life problems actually.The title "Light Years" is the English translation of Lichtjahre which also reflects my idea of 2 worlds separated by space and time. Unfortunately I couldn't find any official music video or live performance for this specific song so I decided to go through live performance from Schiller between 2010 and 2021 looking for sequences that would match. This is the reason why you will notice that Mr Schiller keeps changing shirt and setup during the video. Some of you music nerds might complain that the wrong buttons are pressed on the piano, sure, but it's good enough for me.The highlight regarding editing was trying to mimic the excellent transitions found in Genshin Impact trailers. Some transitions required 2 or 3 evenings to get perfect but I was pleased to occasionally get this special feeling when I throw something on the timeline and see it magically work. I took every new idea as a challenge of some sort and it ended up working better that expected almost every time.I have been playing Genshin since day one and I still try to get back into it once or twice a week. I really don't care much for the never ending story, I just like exploring and killing things that move.In the end it took me over a year to complete this project however I wasn't able to work on it every week. Sure, the quality has increased but It's interesting that even though I never had this much free time before in my life, it still takes this long to complete a video. I thought of making something quick by re-using my Hidden Palace footage, but I ended up making something completely new that became my most complex project.I spent 3 months on this project. I had something pretty simple in mind when I started but the amount of footage that I managed to collect allowed me to go for a more advanced concept with lip-sync. This video made me use all the editing tricks that I learnt over the years.I selected MMD videos with Hatsune Miku Append model and Append One Piece by Tda and Re:YaMa*. I’m not really a fan of Miku but this model looks really good and the dance motions from the videos I found were clean and perfect for editing. Sulaco V2 Nostro 2014-01-18 | Total upgrade of Sulaco, I only kept the case, power supply, optical drives and a few extension cards. I often get asked to make a list of my favourite music artists and I thought I could reply to this request in an original way.Audio mixing is one of my favourite part in the AMV making process so I got the idea of making a megamix of all my favourite trance tracks. I already did some multi-song mixes for AMV MEPs and other small projects but this mix is a lot bigger with 18 tracks and a total length of 37 min.The most interesting aspect of it is the work I did on transitions between tracks. I had to use some filters and audio tricks in order to make transitions as smooth as possible and adapt the BPM when necessary. I had a lot more songs that I wanted to include but they wouldn’t have fit in this mix.When I was done with the audio, I thought that releasing it on YouTube with random still pictures wouldn’t be interesting. I then remembered that I had some video editing skills that I could use to make a quick video that would fit mix. Of course, making a 37 min AMV would be insane and take at least 2 years to complete (considering how slow I work) so I decided to use official videos from music artists. It was good, it won some awards but I always thought it could be improved. Introducing Galaxy Bounce 2012, remake of my 6-year-old AMV with improved editing, effects, 720p, 60fps and an exclusive remix of the original song Lifelight by Sugar Jesus.The improved video quality was nice but I figured that a simple remake with the same song wouldn’t make a good impact. I needed something to freshen the AMV, like a new version of the song, remix maybe. Since I recently worked with Andrei Basirov from Sugar Jesus for my Binary Overdrive AMV and I knew that he was very good at remixing, I thought I’d ask him if he would be interested in taking part in this project. He immediately accepted and told me that he needed the vocal track of Andy Hunter’s song as well as some other elements like SFX and chorus tracks in order to start working on the remix.I managed to contact Andy and tell him about the project. He already saw the first Galaxy Bounce AMV few years ago and loved it. He agreed to help and sent me the audio tracks that Andrei needed. It took a while for Andrei to come up with the first version of the remix as he’s been very busy with his job but it was worth waiting. This first version was already high quality but Andrei is a perfectionist and he kept getting back to me with improved versions every time I gave him feedback.I put my summer AMV project on standby (Quantum Ripples) and started editing as soon as I got the first version of the remix. Although I basically just had to replicate the editing from the 2006 AMV, it took me a while to remember and redo some effects. I also realized that I already had a good level back then and there are even some quick transitions that I didn’t manage to redo very well so I just took them directly from the old Galaxy Bounce, hopefully you won’t notice it. This remake is about 1 minute longer.Once again it was a pleasure to work with Andrei. Having Andy Hunter on the project put some extra pressure and motivated me to do things well. I spent about 5 months working on this remake (including lazy-time playing Deus Ex). Fullmetal Alchemist wasn’t easy to use for this project since this anime is mostly dark, depressive and the mood doesn’t really fit upbeat music.I used a lot of scenes from openings/endings since the best animation is usually there and I put a heavy focus on the lip sync.“One” is from Scooter’s 2004 album “Mind The Gap”. I just got the idea of using the Simpsons episode when they go to Japan and they get a seizure by watching some anime on TV. This one had a good impact on audience as well.

AMV - Nostromo - Ctrl+S Interlude Nostro 2011-09-02 | WATCH IT FULL SCREEN !! Premiered: 2008-07-03 I made those Interludes when I was still member of AMV France association. They were first shown at Japan Expo 2008 on the AMV France stand. This Interlude starts as a cheap Lucky Star AMV with random scenes and Lucky Star opening song. It goes on for a few seconds just to hypnotize people and then, the BSOD comes in. It had a great impact on the audience, we (the staff) were acting as if the BSOD was real and unexpected by face-palming, standing up and yelling. The audience responded great. The second part of the video uses a remix from a Luky Star song album: Mizuhara Kaoru -- Micro Krafty Datte Valator AD++.
