“Love Theme from The Godfather” is the iconic melody you’ll recognize from the original Godfather movies. “Speak Softly Love,” the version with English lyrics; is a beautiful love ballad originally performed by Andy Williams. And now, more than 50 years later, I am delighted to welcome my friends, the world-class string trio, Simply Three, to reimagine this timeless classic in a unique way, never done quite like this before.

Wine-colored days warmed by the sun Deep velvet nights when we are one
Speak softly, love so no one hears us but the sky The vows of love we make will live until we die My life is yours and all because You came into my world with love so softly love

Lyrics: My heart still races when you call My foolish passion hasn't fallen off at all And though we might not be the same You're still the girl who carved a heart around my name And I'm still the boy you recall
And if I had to do it over I would hold you even closer And I would fall for you again I would fall for you again
And I love lying next to you Watching movies, though you're sleeping halfway through 'Til I wake you with a kiss And tell you all the parts you missed So that you can lie with me And watch the ending too
Chorus
And as I look back over time I see how lucky that I've been to call you mine And I'm glad you loved me since

Lyrics And now, the end is near And so I face the final curtain My friend, I'll say it clear I'll state my case, of which I'm certain I've lived a life that's full I traveled each and every highway And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Regrets, I've had a few But then again, too few to mention I did what I had to do And saw it through without exemption I planned each charted course Each careful step along the byway And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew When I bit off more than I could chew But through it all, when there was doubt I ate it up and spit it out I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
I've loved, I've laughed and cried I've had my fill, my share of losing And now, as tears subside I find it all so amusing To think I did all that And may I say, not in a shy way Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way
For what is a man, what has he got? If not himself, then he has naught To say the things he truly feels And not the words of one who kneels The record shows I took the blows And did it my way

As my sons grow older and more independent, I sometimes wonder if I have cherished them enough while they’re young. It’s too easy to take these precious days for granted. I constantly have to remind myself to hug them tightly and enjoy each moment with them because they won’t stay this young and innocent forever.
One of the most wonderful and sad parts of being a young parent is simply watching our babies get older. Makes me wanna cry and rejoice at the same time.

A mom from Arizona sent me a clip of her little boy’s tender reaction to hearing “Fly Me To the Moon / Lucky,” a mashup I recorded a few years ago. It may have been the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen!!
It is still incredible to me that original mashup now has over 40,000,000 views and has been shared and viewed (and viewed “again”) all over the world. It makes my day hearing from people who share how they love this simple mashup. This video, sent to me by Kim Jacobson, was definitely an exceptional highlight. She discovered the song on a random YouTube jazz playlist and her son was instinctively drawn to it. So remarkable!! Huge thanks to Kim for sharing this tender moment!!
A little background on this video and song... I spent an afternoon standing outside the local shopping mall and asked random strangers to be in this music video. I didn't know any of these good people before the day of the shoot, and I was impressed at how kind they were to me. I literally just met them, and they were nice enough to take time out of their day to smile for the camera. To all who graciously shared your smiles, THANK YOU!!!
I have always loved Nat King Cole's version of this timeless song. It's the type of tune that just puts me in a good mood and melts my worries away. This little version started as a simple acoustic cover, but as I sat down to record it with my friend Stephen Moyer, it just felt right to improve it with a few details (piano, bass, percussion). I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together. I'm no Nat King Cole, but the message in this song, encouraging all to "light up your face with gladness" has never been more needed than it is right now.
Lately, the world seems plagued with frustration and fear. There's a lot to be sad about when we dwell on the negative. But I hope these warm smiles, coupled with the music and message of this song, help to spread some joy. I think if we view others with love and empathy, kindness will come naturally and will be contagious.
I love you. Thanks for watching, sharing, liking, smiling, and singing along.

Making the Mashup What a dream to sing a duet with BROOKE WHITE! We both came from the same town in Mesa, Arizona, but I didn't know her until I saw her Golden Ticket performance on American Idol, Season 7. Just like the rest of the world, I became a big fan of her stunning vocals and warm spirit as I cheered her on from my living room couch.
When I first reached out to Brooke about singing together, it seemed nearly impossible to coordinate our schedules. She's lives in Los Angeles now and I'm a state away in Arizona. We each have our own families and busy lives, and it looked like a collaboration together might be too hard to swing. But just before giving up all hope, I pitched this mashup idea to her, and, short of begging, asked if there was any way we could make it work. When she heard the idea to use Alan Jackson's "Remember When," as part of a mashup, it was a game-changer. Not only is Alan Jackson one of her all-time favorite artists, "Remember When" was actually the song she and her husband Dave danced to at their wedding! I told her it was a sign, and that we had to find a way to make it work!
And I'm so glad we did! She was perfect!
The happy couple in this video is Stanley and Dona Hunt who were married in 1950! The pictures seen in the video are actual photographs of them from earlier years. Their love and mutual respect for each other is inspiring and we can't thank them enough for sharing a glimpse of their lives (and their dancing skills) with us.

She sings "You take me the way I am" and I sing "I'll take you just the way you are." It's a mashup of two sweet songs that make perfect sense together and form this nice little duet. I have long loved the Billy Joel song, "Just the Way You Are" and then when I heard "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson, I knew the two songs would make a lovely match.
I have always loved this song. I grew up listening to KOOL 94.5 on the radio in Arizona, back when they played songs from the 50’s and 60’s. It’s still weird to me nowadays when they play something from the 80’s and call it an “oldie”...
When I decided to to cover “Sealed With a Kiss,” I wanted to find a singer to join me who would appreciate the tune and nail the harmonies. I happened to be at the gym one day when the name Cory McCloskey came to mind. I’ve been a huge fan of Cory for years. He delivers the news and forecasts the weather on FOX 10 AZ Phoenix, and he’s one of the most witty and dynamic performers I’ve ever known. I was pretty starstruck when I met him in person at a stand up comedy show we were both performing in a few years ago. But before that, he happened to sing the National Anthem at a Diamondbacks baseball game Taryn and I were attending, and I was impressed with his vocals. When I thought about having the Phoenix weather guy singing, “Yes, it’s gonna be a cold, lonely summer,” I knew I had to reach out to him. It was a long-shot, but somehow, he happily agreed to sing with little ol’ me. And, as if he wasn’t already bringing enough to the table, he drove his stunning 1957 Porsche Speedster to the music video shoot, and allowed us to cruise around for some fun shots. I’m honored to have him join me on this song, and grateful to call him a friend.
I hope you enjoy our take on this old classic!

“How did you come up with that mashup idea?” Several months ago, I was invited to perform at a wedding. The couple wanted some live, acoustic music to set the tone for their special night. When I play weddings, I love to do the old romantic classics (Sinatra, The Temptations, Frankie Valli, etc...), but I also want to include a good mix of modern stuff (Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, etc…).
As I sat at home, brushing up on my acoustic version of “My Girl,” I started noodling around with the intro. It kind of reminded me of the iconic acoustic guitar riff from “Your Body Is a Wonderland” by John Mayer. I messed around with it a bit before the wedding but didn’t think too much of it at first.
The night of the wedding was beautiful. Their ceremony was held in a lovely backyard garden, and the smooth acoustic music made it feel like a dream. I played a few songs and it seemed to be going perfectly. I could tell that people were enjoying the music; I got warm smiles and an occasional thumbs up. Then, when I started playing “My Girl,” I noticed some folks couldn’t help but start to move with the music. As I played through the song, I didn’t want it to end, so I kept going with it, but sort of transitioned into the John Mayer riff. I saw some eyes light up as the folks recognized what I was doing with the song, and I just ran with it on the spot. It ended up being a really cool, spontaneous mashup.
I got a lot of great feedback from the bride and groom along with several wedding guests who really enjoyed the music that night. Near the end of the evening, one man came up to me and told me this was the best music he had ever heard at a wedding. He clarified “And I’ve been to a lot of weddings over the years!”
After that experience, I played it for some friends and at other live settings. The response was so positive that I came up with an arrangement and showed it to my producer friend, Stephen Moyer. He liked it and we decided to throw it down in studio. I hope you enjoy!

Staring down the passing time Tossing as the hands are turning The sheets too thin to hide behind My skin is cold, my heart is burning
Her brightness is like fire in my soul Oh darkness, give me refuge in your cold
So much for my peace of mind Her memory keeps on returning
Words in her familiar tone Light the room and stop my breathing I swore I wouldn’t check my phone, But I can’t keep my eyes from cheating
Her brightness is like fire in my soul Oh darkness, give me refuge in your cold
I know I’m better off alone Easy said but hard believing
I close my eyes and seal my lips Take my guitar and play another song Calloused as my fingertips Fixed in my resolve for moving on
Her brightness consumes my soul Oh darkness, where is your cold?

A huge thanks to all of the friends and family who helped make this happen. I love you all and hope you enjoy it!
