#94 - Dustpan Pour Challenge with Lee Jones, Art &Life and Amy’sCreativeAcrylics, Acrylic Paint Pour Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-09-11 | #94 - Dustpan Pour Challenge with Lee Jones, Art and Life and Amy’sCreativeAcrylics, Acrylic Paint PourThis is a video about a challenge with Amy’sCreativeAcrylics, I start with a cup layered with chosen acrylic colors of paint poured onto a new dustpan then on a 20x10 inch gallery wrapped canvas. Then, Amy follows with her premiere (which can be viewed at any time if not at the time of the premiere). Initially, I poured white over the entire canvas. I also put white paint on the dustpan to reduce resistance of the paint pour. I put a strip of gold horizontally in the middle of the dustpan in hopes of gold cell development. I layered the paint in a 16 ounce cup (approximately 13 ounces). I poured the layered cup with acrylic paint, three colors I chose (Sapphire Blue, Dioxazine Purple, and Cadmium Yellow) and Amy’s colors (Neon Blue, Aqua Blue, and Magenta) with white and gold included. I layered the cup starting with white, gold, yellow, Aqua green, Neon blue, sapphire blue, magenta and dioxazine purple. After pouring the paint in a traveling ring pour, I held the dustpan over the top edge of the canvas and slowly moved the dustpan while the paint poured onto the canvas. Then, I tilted the canvas to allow the poured paint to naturally move down the tilted canvas. The final technique used was making some swirls in the paint with a broken stick. #93 - Experiment Continues, Upside Down Bowl, 8 Straight Pour Cups Acrylic Paint Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-08-22 | #93 - Experiment Continues, Upside Down Bowl, 8 Straight Pour Cups Acrylic PaintThis 24 inch piece of wood I cut using a jig saw is the third round and forth in a series of Upside Down Bowl Pours. This round wood has varnish on it rather then resin, as the last round wood. To continue the experiment with the effects of stretching and tilting the paint on wood with different treatments (the initial pour is #88 and is a 24x36 inch canvas) all four I have used 8 cups, which are all layered the same (in each pour, the 8 are layered the same). The Initial pour had all cups poured over the bowl in the same direction (the same direction as they were layered. This pour and the last two pours had the first four cups poured in the direction they were layered into the cup and final four poured in the opposite direction over the upside down bowl. This pour, I reversed the pouring in the first four cups and the final four were in the direction they were layered. My hypotheses is that if I reverse the initial four cups, I will have the predominantly blue be in the first four poured cups “peddles” and then, the second four cups be reversed with the red, yellow, gold and white being predominantly showing. The results were fascinating and now I look forward to my next video where I explain the steps and the differences I found. #91 - Acrylic Paint Poured on a Mirror, Using a Tray, Like a Dust Pan, & Random Acts of Art Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-08-11 | #91 - Acrylic Paint Poured on a Mirror, Using a Tray, Like a Dust Pan, & Random Acts of Art 12 x 48 inch mirror and a 5x8 inch companion piece from the Olympic Collaboration as a “Random Acts of Art” I reclaimed the mirror that had been behind a door for years. After cleaning and taping the back it was ready to pour (a strip of tape was added to the front where the frame and mirror meet so paint would not run into and between this location. After the paint dried, I removed this tape and touched up a few spots where the mirror was noticeable. The paint was layered in the fashion of the rainbow colors, into a plastic tray, re-used from a holder initially for a set of tubes of paint. I had cleaned the holder prior to using it however I didn’t realize the tubes had put small wholes into the plastic and resulted in the paint leaking out. So, after pouring a little over half the way across the mirror (the twelve inch across section), I turned the tray around and after making sure there were no wholes, I layered the paint in the same manner as the first layering and then poured over the remaining space on the mirror. Then tilting to allow the paint to drip down the mirror and adding more paint to make larger, more pronounced drips, one color at a time, the paint covered about 1/4 of the total mirror. By leaving the rest of the mirror clean, it can still function as a mirror and be hung where the drips can appear to be going up, or can be hung slightly higher and be dripping down. As always, it is the owner’s choice. #90 - 2021 Olympics Collaboration Five Artists and Five Ring Acrylic Pour, Gold, Silver, Bronze Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-08-07 | #90 - 2021 Olympics Collaboration Five Artists and Five Ring Acrylic Pour, Gold, Silver, BronzeThis 15 inch round wood has 5 open ring pours representing the five Rings for the Olympics, and the five artists on the Collaboration Team. The artists each poured their own round creation, in 15 minute intervals, across the globe. My piece of round wood is 15 inches and can be hung on the wall or made into a turntable after resin is cured. I sanded the wood with 250 grid sandpaper, then put a coat of aerosol spray varnish in order to allow me to keep the portion of the wood clean from paint, and enhance the composition with the organic part of the wood (exposed, rather then covered with paint). Black paint covered the remainder of the wood and the connected five rings were used as an open cup rim to pour paint into. Gold, bronze and silver were poured into the top three rings and red and blue in the bottom two rings. All rings had white, Pearl and black poured into them. The connected rings were moved slightly as the paint naturally drifted out from underneath the rings. This is a type of pouring that has a unique result. I swiped or schmeered the palette knife with Pearl on it through the center, across the gold and silver, then down through the red. The paint was stretched over the sides of the wood and all resemblance of rings were pretty much taken away. Left was the gold, bronze, silver, red white and blue. A final touch was made off camera, once partially dried, where the black that flowed over the knot was taken away. The knot, according to me, enhances the composition and overall experience of the object being nature, a piece of wood, rather then a canvas. #89 - My First Year Anniversary On YouTube, Huge Acrylic Paint Pour Over My Wheelchair Ramp Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-08-02 | #89 - My First Year Anniversary on YouTube, Huge Acrylic Paint Pour Over My Wheelchair Ramp This is a 96x33 inch piece of wood with a side kick about 96x12 inches, to face the newly built ramp I constructed after my 27 year old ramp had started to fall apart. The colors are made with a combination of durable paint and even more pourable paint mediums and additives in order to maintain the sturdiness and beauty of the ramp. There is part missing from the video, the part where I took apart the old ramp and rebuilt the new. I was able to save some of the 2x4s that were not affected by wear and tear of 27 years. The rest of the ramp was replaced with new wood. Pieces of 2x4s and plywood were used to re-construct the ramp. The sturdiness was enhanced with the additional piece of plywood placed over the two 4x4 foot squares of plywood 3/4 inch thick. The additional piece of wood is 1/2 inch thick and easier for me to pour onto while resting on two saw horses. Due to the size of the piece of wood several support stripes attached temporarily to the underside were required. Once poured and dried, the support strips were removed and the wood was glued and screwed to the top sides of the other two pieces of plywood, making the poured wood, the top of the ramp. Then a 1x2 inch piece of molding was painted the same blue as the trim of the house, and attached to the ramp and the side of the house. The 2x2 inch molding was also painted and then attached to the outer side of the ramp. Metal strips were nailed to the top of the wrap and the bottom of the ramp to protect the plywood where I had made a 45 degree angle cut to allow the ramp to gradually meet the thresholds. Colors and Brands of Paint Every color had the EBP and Floetrol, the ratio to paint varied depending upon the thickness and quality of the paint in order for all paint to be thick consistent and durable. And, a teaspoon of Liquitex medium, and a teaspoon of GAC 800 was added to every 16 ounce cup of paint, paint medium and additives. Larger and smaller containers were given amounts accordingly. The color palette is from white, gold, blue and brown, with various shades of blue and brown. (Where the paint ripped from the heat (basically, drying too fast in parts), exterior paint was applied in an embellishing fashion to protect the wood, the paint, and the composition. The paint consistency is very thick and dried at various levels which will assist in preventing the paint from being slippery when wet. Two coats of aerosol varnish were applied after a week of allowing the paint to cure and cool, then the strips for support were removed and the poured piece of wood was glued and screwed to the existing part of the ramp. #88 Organic 24 inch Round Wood, 8 Layered Cups, Ripple Poured Over Upside Down Bowl Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-07-23 | #88 Organic 24 inch Round Wood, 8 Layered Cups, Ripple Poured Over Upside Down BowlI extensively sanded this wood until all the natural beauty, knots and grains, enhanced the final composition by allowing a portion of the natural wood to be free of paint “organic”. 8 acrylic layered cups have been poured over an upside down bowl with the first four being poured so as the cup of layered paint was poured down every other indent on the upside down bowl with the dark brown paint being the first to pour from the cup. The next four cups were turned around prior to pouring in order for the dark brown fina layer to be on the opposite side of the cup. This turning of the cup and then pouring gave a different appearance for the final four cups forming pedal-like formations in the composition, with a thin slice of the wood being “organic,” free of paint and showing a beautiful knot in the wood. #SHORT #86 - Shark Week, Acrylic Dump and Pour Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-07-13 | This #SHORT video is of a paint pour I had completed while practicing a technique “Dump and Pour” where the paint and mediums are thinner and the idea is to form small Pearl like cells or I also enjoy the puppy paws (although I would think there is another name for the cell development that resembles a puppy paw print). The results actually looked like a shark emerged in water.

Mina Villegas has been pouring on large canvases for the past couple of years I’ve been viewing her videos and I have attempted to make some large wood painting yet they are much heavier then the canvas so, I’m trying out the canvas. I enjoy the rainbow ring pours and this was one of the largest I have created. I layered a cup and then poured individual rings around the wondering pour to provide a unique composition. I pulled the extra poured paint with metallic Pearl with my palette knife and then I stretched until desired composition. #SHORT Last Year’s Memories, “Purple Boulder Cells, Reclaimed Wood Acrylic Pour “ Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-07-07 | #SHORT Last Year’s Memories, “Purple Boulder Cells, Reclaimed Wood Acrylic Pour “This 12x24 inch 17 year old piece of reclaimed wood is covered in various shades of Dioxazine Purple and finished with two layers of resin. 17 years ago, this was a piece of plywood that had been 48x96 inches and tried to be used to protect grass while having a Bobcat roll over it and 14 other sheets of plywood. After this piece and three others had been basically crushed, the remainder of the sheets were speared although the grass was not so fortunate. I have gradually used the sheets for many projects and have came down to the end of the sheets. I am very fond of wood that has, what I call, “character,” with knots and grain, wear and tear. This piece has a lot of character. The acrylic paint compliments the wood. Over the past year, I have discovered the beauty of the wood partially exposed enhances the overall composition of the piece of art. The Dioxazine Purple is from Liquitex Basics and the white is Artist’s Loft. The paints have Floetrol and Liquitex Medium (white has a little amount of DecoArt Americana Decor Satin Enamels pure white). I planned on a rainbow ring pour with a second ring pour of various shades of blue, purple and white. The rainbow was planned to represent the landscape and the blues were planned to represent water and waves. Well, unfortunately the rainbow didn’t resemble landscape so I shifted my plans and had the rainbow pour be my pillow for the water and waves. I am please with the water and waves. Using a pop cycle stick, I sketched a dancing dolphin in the center of the pour. I am drawn to pour on many surfaces in addition to stretched canvas, yet wood tops them all. With my passion for the sensory experience, it is my hope that the natural exposed wood also adds to your sensory experience.Look Below for Summer Lovin’ Weekend June 26 - 27, 2021, with 12 Artists listed below with each of their video timesMy Process of Pouring:Overlapping cups were used with the initial cup being layered with the rainbow colors and to get an additional appearance of water over the initial poured paint, another cup was layered with various shades of blue and then poured in the center of the initial pour. Individually, paint was poured around the the overlapping cup pours to extend the paint and to provide more eye appealing textural appearance. Using my palette knife, i pulled the various shades of blue and pearl from center toward the sides of the wood, allowing it to drop over the sides, dripping off the wood. Then circles of paint were poured individually until nearly reaching the edges. Then mystical paint covered the remaining corners of the canvas with phthalocyanine blue was spread first. By pulling the mystical over the phthalocyanine blue, cell development was enhanced. The white and orange circle appears as flames, hence the title of the painting. #77 - Puppy Runs the Show, Dolly & Jerry Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-04-14 | I had planned to make this a tour of my back yard, then Jerry decided he was going to show off how disciplined he is with me. I collect roots and use them in my art work. He helped pick this one for me. Dolly is a Boarder Colli and is 3 1/2 years old and Jerry is a little over a year old and is a German Shepard. If you didn’t notice, we spoil them and love both of them so much that they run the show. I will return to paint pouring soon.
#76 - Partner Paint Pours, With Handmade Divider, using Pizza Swirling Technique Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-04-10 | #76 - Partner Paint Pours, With Handmade Divider, using Pizza Swirling Technique These two pours began with 8 acrylic colors poured into a divider which is viewed following the pour onto two pieces, first on a 9x12 inch wood cradle and second on its partner, an 8x10 inch canvas, using my handmade paint divider to layer and pour the paint. I waited to show the layering due to some viewers limited interest in viewing the layering process. This divider has four compartments and I made a video of first using the divider and then a tutorial of the steps involved in making the divider as I made another divider. There are two “partner pours” due to having enough paint. I started layering the divider with only half the amount it is capable of holding (capacity is 8 ounces, and I filled it with 4 ounces). After realizing I had enough paint poured onto the wood cradle, I stopped pouring and set it aside and brought out an 8x10 inch canvas that was ready in the wings. Even though they are very similar, they are unique, like most happy partners. The stretching was initially going to be spun with the turntable, yet, the “C” hooks were too unstable on the turntable and I decided to use my “Pizza Swirling Technique” one-handed and two-handed. I enjoy the similarities to cake decorating and paint pouring, this is one of those similarities, being able to swirl an object with one hand. This allows for the other hand to be involved in another task, or, just keeps the one hand consistent in its motion. YouTube video #36 has a pour using the divider followed by a tutorial of how I made the paint divider. Paint pouring and fluid art allows for some unpredictable outcomes and this can be useful in being mindful of how we view the process and how we engage in it. I started this adventure, March 13, 2020, when social distancing began, as a way to pour out my gradually increasing sense of the insecurity due to the lack of predictability, the unknown and a feeling of anxiety. The more I found objects to pour, and engaged with the process, cleaning the object in preparation or pouring, getting the paints ready to layer and then to ultimately pour, the more relaxed I became. I began looking forward to staying at home and finding objects to post on YouTube that I had poured. Viewers began asking if I had videos of the pouring process, rather then just the final results. So, August 3, 2020, I began posting the pour process. My knowledge of technology is so limited that after all this time, I still struggle to get the sound, the lighting, and most of all, the object in a manner that is appealing. This is a 10x10 inch canvas with the colors listed in the video. The canvas was slightly slanted so after an hour, a portion had stretched off the canvas. Kanella Ciraco would be so disappointed with me. Even video we are reminded of the importance of leveling. I had, but I moved the canvas to be in view of the iPad that was taking a time-lapse video. Having this one-of-a-kind octagon cradle wood as the base for this pour, it is truly a labor of love. Hours have been spent making sure every step was completed to the best of my ability (I’m not a carpenters, I just love creating as much of a piece myself as possible). How to make Wood Cradles”Where I demonstrate the steps I took in creating 4 handmade octagon wood cradles. One cradle I poured resin, as an experiment to know what changes when the wood is completely sealed. I’m using it in this video in hopes of having the paint explore more movement and less resistance. I was so right, the paint extended itself for over an hour. Stretching on its own, the paint gradually and naturally self-leveled and some of the surface paint had started to dry. When this happens, even though the cradle wood octagon was level to begin with, wood can build up some sort of torque and warp or twist ever so slightly, resulting in the paint to stretch and rip in areas where the portion of the paint that had started to dry, while the paint underneath (hopefully a similar color thereby not affecting the appearance when varnish or resin is applied) stays in its place. Although some people are in pleased with ripping, or will refer to the process as cracking, I like the interaction the surface (in this case, the resin) has with the paints and way the interactions influence the overall composition can be desirable. This particular paint pour creates the appearance of an ocean with water crashing up against the landscape and water pouring over rocks. This appearance is only visual from a distance. Close up, the cells seem to be emerging into each other and layers or ribbons of the paint are able to be defined. As I made 4 attempts at layering paint on this pour, the results intrigue me. Thank You I am trying to figure out how to make successful Pearl and Paw Print cells I was so excited with the previous pour, #72, that I decided to go from the 8x10 and 10x10 inch practice canvases to this 16 x 20 inch canvas. I am attempting this technique because I have been inspired by artists Dwight Pour and MelyD. They have both mastered this technique and have Youtube videos of their efforts. Both are recognized artists and have many followers. PROCESS AND STEPS TO THIS POUR:Initially, I painted the canvas with black Artistloft paint without any additives, then poured black Artistloft paint with the floetrol, Liquitex medium and water (all paint has this mixture in the paint and I have attempted to keep the consistency as close as possible), then I layered paint in a slightly distorted infinity symbol, in order to split the paint on the canvas as it is swirled around (I refer to this as my “Swirling Pizza Technique “) and the tilting stretches the paint to result in cell development and composition. Since the initial layering and tilting didn’t result in many cells, I layered it again and romped paint over the layering (this is what I have viewed from the artists using this technique. Dwight has committed on the necessary efforts to doom and pour a couple of times in order to get the cells he is desiring. I have yet to Oprah. “Pearl” cells. The Paw prints or flower, pop corn, and other names these cells are referred to, only demonstrate how interesting this technique is and pulls people toward trying it. I believe I am not copying them, I have attempted to combined my cell development that has a rainbow within it, along with the other cells. Paint is nearly impossible to duplicate even an artist who is attempting to replicate their own work has an impossible task at hand. I have nearly 30 canvases that have multiple layers of paint on them in attempt to obtain the technique to a satisfactory level. This is an 8x10 inch canvas with Sea Glass Green Soft Gloss Acrylic paint by Artminds with a swirl of Aquamarine Blue by Liquitex Basics and 24k Gold with Extreme Sheen by DecoArt Americana Metallics. I initially covered the canvas with Artistloft Flow acrylic paint and then the other paint with Liquitex medium and Floetrol and a lot of water to make the paint consistency the same and very thin compared to my usual paint thickness. #70 - Tool Box with Bronze, Silver, Copper and Gold Metallic Paint Pour Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-02-21 | Coving this tool box with Metallic colors to enhance its sturdy Metal qualities, lasting over 45 years already, and prepared for many more. This is a 20 inch heavy duty Sears Craftsman tool box that had been used for my husband’s culinary tools for over 45 years, yet he hasn’t been a professional chef in years.I’ve been known to pour on nearly anything, I started pouring onto objects last March 2020, and decided this is going to store our tools for the house repairs (we can never find a screwdriver when we need one). And, it is a great metaphors for mindfulness tools. Paint Brands and Colors: ArtMinds Gold Bronze CopperArtistloft Gold Silver BlackDecoArt Americana Satin Enamel Black (1 tablespoon added to 8 ounces of paint and floetrol) added to black Artistloft DecoArt Americana Metallic Charcoal All colors (except for gray as an extended) are metallic colors. I initially removed 45 years of oil, grease and rust using a 400 wet/dry sand paper, dish soap, and elbow grease. Then taped off all areas where I didn’t want paint and resin to access. I prepared the paint with Liquitex medium (just a splash in each color) and floetrol (to the same consistency of each other). The two 16 ounce cups (with about 10 ounces of recovered drippings used in the following paint pour) covered the tool box after having a “dirty pour” style of putting the paint in the cup in layered that were dropped in from about 6 inches from the cups instead of gently layering the cup as in a “ring pour,” for example. This allowed for more mixing of the colors and cell development to occur prior to pouring each cup. Tilting the tool box was a challenge yet proved to be the easiest technique to cover the box. Prior to pouring the cups, I rubbed a gray paint (same consistency as the rest of the paint), over the surface of the tool box to help the paint flow and not resist pouring. Tilting the box also assisted the paint to have striations at an angle and not just vertical stripes, which is typical when pouring an object that is not tilted. The results yelled cells, webbing, and striations as well as some vertical lines. Then, the resin was applied after the box dried for a few days. Two coats of Resin was rubbed and moved around, using my one hand, both were double gloved (in case I needed to remove the glove and still require protection). The second coat was applied 10 hours after the first coat. As time pasted, about every hour for the first several hours, I used a utility knife and ran it along the edges of the lid (tape that had been inserted in between the lid and the box) except for where the hedges were taped) did not stay and collected the resin so I removed it after the first hour. The front and center hinge also needed lots of attention in order to prevent them from having resin dry and freeze them. The lid, and any where tape needed to be removed, required the use of the blow drier to make it possible to cut through the drying resin. 91% alcohol was also used to assist in releasing the resin froze hinges. After all was cleaned and working, within the first 24 hours after pouring the resin, I applied an epoxy that sealed were the resin and metal met (around the lids metal, the front latches, and front lock hinge, and around the bottom of the boxes rim. This made sanding and resealing unnecessary and the epoxy is more efficient in keeping the resin from getting compromised over the years of use. The epoxy was painted with silver paint, no additives. Then, finally the silver was covered with three coats of Liquitex gloss varnish to protect it. The bottom of the tool box was covered in Gorilla tape, in order to protect the box from further rust and from the box scratching any surface it is placed upon. The tape is not visible unless the box is tilted enough to view the underside. I have taken small clips of the process of painting the grapes, vines and leaves with gold and other metallic accents. The process took several hours however I only videoed portions and then edited as much as I could. Relaxation techniques of deep breathing, re-directing, and staying in the moment are some examples of similarities between fluid Art and mindfulness. Fluid Art and paint pour are interchangeable terms to some degree, the same is true with mindfulness, attention and focusing are also generally speaking, interchangeable terms Paint pouring remains a mystery to me. My attempt to re-create delicate transparent Unicorn, or Rainbow cells resulted in unexpected jewels glistening in an underwater current with vines wrapping themselves around the edges (my interpretation, what’s yours?). What a surprise, basically the same colors of paint, layered in a similar manner can have such a drastic difference in consequences just amazes and delights me. Today’s date: February 2, 2021. 6 months ago, August 2,, 2020, I shared my first video paint Pour on YouTube. This is a 20x20 inch heavy gallery wrapped canvas with a 16 ounce layered cup poured onto a pillow of white in the middle of the canvas. An example of the benefits of mindfulness are provided, with the serenity of fluid art. This voiceover with a mindfulness perceptive in paint pours started last year when I discovered the benefits of paint pour being so easy to incorporate some of the helpful factors of being mindful. This video provides examples of how to use paint pouring as a way to practice being mindful in a safe and comfortable environment. Keeping in mind the importance of being balanced with our thoughts feelings and behaviors, by having the past and future being only a small portion of our present time, and the here-and-now the main focus. One way to practice staying in the here-and-now and balancing our thoughts feelings and behaviors is to engage in an activity that keeps our attention on, and re-directed to, the senses. To have the activity, for example, paint pouring, directing our attention on what is being seen, heard, felt, smelled and maybe tasted. Another sense is being open to our intuition. Listening to all these senses keeps our mind in practice of self-awareness. # - 65 Unicorn Rainbow Cells, Single Cup Paint Pour Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-01-27 | My attempt to create delicate transparent Unicorn, or Rainbow cells has been somewhat successful with slightly changing a couple of the colors and only one cup, I have layered the paint in a gentle fashion that I believe impacts the overall results of the pour. 63 - Big Twin Rainbow Boulder Cells, Simultaneous Acrylic Pours Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-01-16 | This pour turned out to be one of my favorites so far. I’m so excited about the boulders and their subtle rainbow transparent colors. The ribbons are also incredible. I just don’t know what to call it. I could use some help. Two 20 ounce cups poured at the same time, create radiant massive boulder cells on a 24 x 36 inch heavy gallery wrapped canvas resulted in unique yet similar transparent appearance. # - 62 Winter Series with Icy Rapid River, Beautiful Boulder Cells, Paint Pour Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-01-15 | Rapid River rushes over and throw beautiful boulders with metallic icy hues capturing a moment in time, yet movement is subtly present. This 16xo20 inch canvas with acrylic paint Liquitex medium and floetrol as additives to increase hue and extends the quality and quantity of the paint. I used a 16 ounce plastic cup (reusable) and filled the 11 ounces by gently layering the paint by holding the cup at an angle and allowing the paint to pour down the inside of the cup starting from the rim. I usually start with white and follow with 24k gold, as I did with this pour. Then, colors were layered from dark to lighter same hue with a strong difference every third of forth color, for blending and contrasting hues. For all my fluid paint creations, having each paint be as consistent as the other, results are more desirable. I layered the cup and poured it, yet the video shows the layering at the end. I have had recommendations that the time spent on layering the cup could result in having viewers stop due to lack of interest. Since I have been interested in every aspect of a pour, I believe the viewer should be able to choose to view the layering. It’s challenging to edit and reduce a video that starts as twice as pong or even longer then the final result just to have the viewer keep viewing the video. I need to find what I enjoy doing and most importantly what the viewers want to see. Ideally, I want to incorporate mindful practices within the videos yet I need to be able to complete the video more successfully before I can add another component into the already complicated process. Each color was mixed in a two ounce container and about one ounce of the paint was used to pour a strip across the canvas diagonally. Then, using the blow dryer held upside down, the strip of paint was blown away from me, and as the strip is blown, the ribbons are created by having the blown paint appear to flips ribbons around as it crosses the canvas. #57 - Celebrating 2021 with Dolly & Jerry, Purple Paint Poured Box Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-01-04 | #57 - Celebrating 2021 with Dolly & Jerry, Purple Paint Poured Box This 9x9x3 cedar wood box with slide hinges, no latch, velvet underside, and mahogany stained. The paint poured over the top was swiftly gathered from a previous pour, still having the Dioxazine purple, lightened lavender, gold and white distinctive from one another. Once poured, the turntable as spun until the paint covered each corner. As the first day of the new year past, the pour nearly dried completely. Then, carefully, the tape was removed from the sides. This box has a delicate small curved edge all around the top and where the box opens. It really adds to the sharp look of the box. There are no markings on the box to indicate it being a cigar box. These edges are where the tape stopped. I had covered the bottom with paper and tape and the sides with tape so only the curved edges have tape in order to prevent the sides from getting paint on them. The resin will be added once the paint is cured. History of collection of cigar boxes. At one point about 6 years ago, I had a friend who smoked cigars and supplied me with the beautiful variation of boxes. Some have been made into art work for clients and taken home with them once finished, some have been supply holders, and some have been pieces of art for me. Only a handful are left due to the person getting the cigars only to put them in a humidifier rather then the box and discovered they are very expensive and the cigars could be purchased without the boxes. I value the boxes more then ever. This one is the first in over a year to have paint poured on it. It looks nice and will be enhanced with resin. #56 - Mindfulness & Husband is Tired of Winter, Wants Anything But Blue, Paint Pour, Happy New Year Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-01-03 | #56 - Mindfulness & Husband is Tired of Winter, Wants Anything but Blue Paint Pour, Happy New Year Paint Pouring and other aspects of making this piece of art brings about a complex and balanced experience that only happens when one is in a mindful engagement with ones sensations and environment. The 48 x 24 inch wood panel that I made, from 1 x 2 inch frame, two support beams and a 48 x 24 inch panel surface sanded for hours, is beneficial for large pours, mainly no worries about pooling paint in the middle since the wood will not sag like some canvases. I cut the panel and the frame beams using a circular saw and a jigsaw. Glueing and nailing the beams to the panel secured the wood, otherwise known as a wood cradle panel.Sanding the wood with 100 grid , 150, 200, and 400 grid is a process that is relaxing. MINDFULNESS IN WOOD PREPARATION: Being mindful of the feeling of the wood as it gradually smoothens as the sandpaper becomes smaller, sanding with the grain and being aware of the increase in heat as the friction from the rubbing is consistent. The sounds of the pattern or rhythm of the sandpaper connecting with the wood. The sight of the wood grains slowly having less pours and more distinct wood grain of light and dark, where the dark is harder and the lighter wood actually sands away more than the darker grains. The smell of the wood begins as soon as the saw cuts into the wood, and then, as the sanding improves, the smells improves, bringing about a complex and balanced experience that only happens when one is in a mindful engagement with the sensations and environment.Rubbing the green paint on the wood, using a gloved hand allows for the experience of having the paint start wet and smooth, and then end with dry and stain like.The surface required approximately three pints of paint poured and another pint slightly thinner poured around each other the three poured pints, used to assist the paint to smoothly stretch as it is tilted and masking tape on the edge in order to allow the paint build up on the sides with out spreading excessively. Rather, the paint was tilted and stretched and after all colors were spread from corner to corner, the tape was removed and the composition obtained.This wood panel and paint was much heaver then I had expected and the initial portion of the pour was completed on the turntable, then the turntable was removed. More tilting and stretching was performed until reaching desired results. Scraping the underside of the edges of the wood finalized the pour, in order to prevent the gravity from pulling too much paint off the surface of the wood. #55 Unique Winter Ribbons in 3D, Handmade Paint Pour Divider Lee Jones, Art and Life 2021-01-01 | Unique rippling formations come from a drastic shift from one very dark hue to another very light hue layered directly next to each other, resulting in a striking 3D effect. DIVIDER:I made the four compartment divider, using plastic, tape, glue, and resin. Video #36 demonstrates how I made the divider after a brief pour of the divider being used. I’m working on a divider that doesn’t include the resin and has less steps, yet remains durable. The paint is poured into the handmade compartments with 3 colors in each (up to the line I have drawn on the side of the divider that lets me know that each compartment has the same amount as the others. PROCESS:Each compartment is filled with three layers of color and then poured onto the canvas while the canvas is turned clockwise and the divider is turned counterclockwise on the turntable. The pour was given time to rest and actually self-stretched, and cell development occurred. Then, the canvas was tilted and paint stretched until completely covered.Once covered, the canvas was turned on the turntable for desired composition In my opinion, the most remarkable aspect of this piece is the 3 dimensional appearance from the drastic shift in colors and in ripples from the paint divider providing a unique formation on ripples from one very dark compartment layer to another very light hue directly next to the other, resulting in a striking 3D effect. # - 54 Winter Orchid, Five 1 Ounce Cups on Upside Down Bottle Bottom Wrecked Paint Pour Lee Jones, Art and Life 2020-12-26 | # 54 Winter Orchid, Five 1 Ounce Cups Paint Pour with a platform made from a upside down bottle bottom in the middle of the 12 x12 inch canvas for pouring. 5, one ounce, cups layered with all the same colors are filled at the end of the video. Initially, a pillow of white paint is poured in the center of the canvas and then then bottle bottom is placed on the pillow upside down. The cups are poured individually in the grove in the bottle bottom, until all five cups are poured. The cups will dry and then be added to my twinkle lights in my back yard (twinkle lights with cups are shown in a brief video). Then, while on the turntable, slightly thinned paint is poured around the poured paint from the cups (the upside down bottle bottom is taken off the canvas once the paint drained off of it and place the holder in a water, making sure it is submerged completely. The turntable is spun a couple of times before slightly tilting and stretching the poured paint, then spun on the turntable until the pour’s composition is desired. Added gold and a drop of purple are the finishing touches for the winter orchid. The canvas has tape on the underside wood and canvas edges and 4 “c” hooks are placed in the corners to help me hold on to them while moving. I believe this is the definition of “reuse” and “reclaimed” items, especially when the item is to be typically discarded. When I see something that has been taken off of or away from something and is ready to be tossed, my mind instantly starts thinking about what can the item do, or be used for, that would keep it in use. I also believe this is the definition of “Out-of-the-Box” Creativity. My husband has a different belief system. He believes that in a different life, I went through the Great Depression and have a brain that focuses on conserving and preserving anything and everything, broken lawnmowers, weed eaters and barbecues to him, need to be thrown away, to me, they were perfect for paint pouring. My grandparents went through the Great Depression and they had a huge impact on my life, especially my creativity and self-confidence associated with making, building and reconstructing. I believe it wasn’t a different life, it was my childhood.
