A new mural is raising awareness about suicide. Local artist Giovanina Bucci painted the colorful mural on the back of the Warren Tire store in downtown Plattsburgh with the help of community leaders and volunteers. The mural depicts the Adirondack mountains with the words “You Matter” along with the number for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Hotline.
The mural includes the 24-hour 9-8-8 hotline for those struggling with mental health issues or thoughts of suicide. The local hotline that covers Clinton, Essex, Franklin & Hamilton Counties is now manned by volunteers here in Northern New York around the clock.
