This is a video that describes the roof problem I discovered on my 981 Boxster. The roof canvas is the same as the 718, so I suspect the same issue might happen to the 718 model also. It is caused by the pleat cord sleeve ripping from the roof canvas. See following videos of how to fix. If it's under warranty, I would get to the dealer and have the canvas replaced.
