Wagner Leitmotifs | 97 Norns' Rope : Der Ring Des Nibelungen @wagnerleitmotifs7654 | Uploaded September 2013 | Updated October 2024, 13 hours ago.
This leitmotif is first heard in the prologue of Gotterdammerung.

This motif represents the life thread of the world which is woven from the life threads spun out by three daughters of Erda, the Norns. When the thread snaps, then will the world end. This motif winds up and down mimicking the weaving of the rope, and it is an elaborated version of the Gotterdammerung motif.
