OWASP helped teach the world how software breaks. The next challenge is ensuring it does not. Over 25 years we created the Top 10, testing standards, ASVS and a generation of security practitioners. Yet modern systems are more complex, more connected, and more fragile than ever. I want to explore how we move beyond advice and into assurance, embedding security as a verifiable engineering property rather than an afterthought. The future of OWASP is not more guidance. It is measurable, automatable, and built in by default.

Daniel Cuthbert is a senior security researcher, technologist, and long-standing contributor to the global cybersecurity community. He serves as Global Head of Cyber Security Research for the Santander Group, where he focuses on advancing detection engineering, cryptographic safety, and applied security research across complex financial systems.
Beyond his institutional work, Daniel leads and contributes to a range of open-source and community-led security initiatives, including projects that advance cryptographic transparency, post-quantum readiness, and detection innovation. He sits on the Black Hat Review Board and serves as the Industry Chair of the UK Government’s Cyber Security Advisory Board (GCAB), and the UK Department for Science, Innovation, and Technology’s Cyber Resilience Expert Advisory Group and is an Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) is the world’s oldest and the UK’s leading defence and security think tank.
