25 years ago on September 11, America endured the most deadly attacks on its soil since the attack on Pearl Harbor. Emergency responders ran toward danger to save the lives of people they never met with no expectation of reward. Some paid the ultimate price. Others endure health complications to this day from their service, and yet continue to serve others in the federal government, including in the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response. This ceremony recognizes the heroism, dedication, and selflessness of those who risked everything, and sacrificed everything, to serve and save others 25 years ago, as well as in the days, weeks, months, and years that followed.
