1. 1-800-OPERATOR (This was AT&T's attempt at competing with MCI's popular 1-800-COLLECT. Many people misspelled the word Operator as "Operater" when dialing, and the misdialed number went to MCI's system instead. Eventually AT&T caught wind of this and changed the number to 1-800-CALL-ATT)
