9 of Cups Addendum
I’ve never found the 9 of Cups to be an especially interesting or satisfying card.
A simple good time. Being content. A card of shallow pleasures.
In its best, most human, light, the 9 of Cups communicates that sometimes we need mindless fun.
• A silly movie.
• A beach read or a night at the local pub.
• Sometimes it helps to have some comfort food and an afternoon on the couch. To sit on your ass. Be a little passive.
9 of Cups is an enjoyment that’s fine but doesn’t change you.
Empty calories. Junk food.
Pleasure that doesn’t transform.
No real connections are being made. Solitary pleasures.
Note the crossed arms. You aren’t budging. You aren’t changing. You aren’t growing or learning.
Another aspect is all those cups. Many but they appear empty. They’re not anything which nourishes.
The stripes on the garment may indicate you could become a prisoner to your own desires, even if you are unaware of it. A person sitting alone in a room full of empty cups…but who seems perfectly happy. Where are you looking for fulfillment? Are your choices truly nourishing you?
