Welcome back to Episode 3 of my Alberta Whitetail & Moose hunting series! If you’ve been following along, you’ll know I just spent 9 days in the Alberta wilderness hunting Whitetail Deer and Moose solo and with my sons. Our main goal was simple: help my son tag his deer.
After an unforgettable encounter on Day 2 and a painfully slow week, things finally picked up on Day 8 — and on Day 9, my son harvested his Whitetail buck.
Now I’m back out solo with my remaining deer and moose tags, trying to fill one more tag before the season closes.
In this episode:
• I get a late start after misjudging my prep time
• Warm weather slows deer movement
• I check a productive scrape camera
• A cow moose walks by my truck
• A stomach-ache almost keeps me home…
• …but pushing myself to go pays off in a HUGE way
• A perfect 30-yard shot
• Multiple big bucks show up while I’m recovering my deer
• A Whitetail harvest meal to celebrate the season
• Plans for one more moose hunt weekend with my son
