What is a Multi Animator Project?

A multi Animator Project, or "MAP," is a type of animated project where multiple animators complete small parts of a larger video. Frequently, these projects are done by seperating a piece of audio into small chunks and assigning those "parts" to animators with a script or description of what should happen in their part. At the end, the host of the MAP compiles all the parts into a final video and shares it for everyone to enjoy.

What is Leekbomb?

In this map, all that was required for animators was to complete a short animation based on the classic meme "leekspin," a meme from the early 2000s that used a skat cover of a finnish folk song, "Ievan Polkka" by Loitama set to a low resolution gif of the character Orihime from the Anime Bleach spinning a leek with a happy expression. This meme was one I found quite a bit of joy in as a young person and thought was easy to replicate. I frequently run MAPs and the more well known I become as a host, the more people I have applying to my projects, and thus, the more people I am forced to turn away- I envisioned Leekbomb as a way to de-exclusivize my name and my projects, and to give ANYONE who wanted to participate in one of my projects the opportunity to do so. For Leekbomb, all an animator needed to do was submit their animation and it would be included in the final video. I expected 100 entries, perhaps something crazy like 500- there was no way I expected nearly 4,000. I am shocked and delighted by the outpouring of love this project has received, the amount of first time and beginner artists who felt motivated to participate and to become more confident in creating work they enjoyed.

Will you ever run another project like Leekbomb in the future?

I hope to! Next time I will have more rules in place to make compiling all the submissions easier, such as requiring artists to watermark their own submissions.

What's all this I hear about a Guinness World Record?

The Guinness World Record for most participants in a Collaborative animated film project is currently held by the Tate Project, with 1,897 participants. Leekbomb has blown past that number and I will be submitting it to the Guinness World Records, though it takes several weeks/months to hear a response from them. When I receive one I will update here with more information.

Draikinator 2024-04-19 | HELLO EVERYONE!!!! It's my first MAP in.... Whoa. Five years?? No way!! That's crazy!

It's been a long time since I've run one, but I miss it very much. I love creating collaborative content with others and I love organizing big projects like this. I find it so fulfilling to finish them! Felicide is a story I've felt would make a great MAP since I originally debuted it, and I've gotten a lot of positive feedback whenever I've suggested it. Today, it's happening! It's fully storyboarded, it's a great song, and I hope you all will enjoy the final product very much. If everything goes off without a hitch... well, I've got more MAP ideas I'd love to do in the future!

As always, there is no minimum skill level to apply. I intend to leave things fully open until Monday before I assign any parts. The only one not available is part 1, which I'm doing myself with a collaborator!

-Collabs are fine, but you must supply the names of all participants
-NOT first come first serve, please have some examples on your channel
-ONLY participants and backups may join the discord
-Not following designs, not meeting deadlines and not following rules/script will result in being kicked
-Animation level required is PMV or higher. This MAP is lipsync heavy, but as long as characters have open mouths that’s fine.
-No watermarks of any kind of your final work you turn in to me, this does include program watermarks.
-Any transitions should be greenscreen
-Participants have 14 days from time of assignment to complete their part
-Participants can request one three day extension
-Extensions are only available to those who can provide a WIP at deadline

It's a reanimate project of a song from Balto 2, Who You Really Are. I went with more subtle movement in this and kind of a different vibe for the way shes looking around and thinking, but I think it looks really nice. i really love doing lipsync so i made sure to ask for a part that would let me do a lot of it. :3c

hello everyone!! ive never done this before, but when i work on stuff i export a lot of wips to check my timing and everything and to show my friends. this time, I thought it would be a fun idea to save all of them and put them together as a process video- you can see what each wip looks like in order (top left being first, top right second, bottom left third, and bottom right fourth) and the changes or decisions I made. You can also see I didn't finished the storyboard before I started animating, and I didn't do the storyboard in order! I do that a lot, because i have a shot or a scene in mind and I know what it will look like, i will skip to it because I'm excited to work on it. then i'll go back and do the other parts when i feel like it.

As much as I love Ken ashcorp's original version of this song, i also truly ADORE PrinceWhateverer's amazing cover. my guy is so underrated honestly, he has so many incredible tracks I listen to constantly LOL. So I elected to use his today and I think you should go give him a look and a listen too if you like this. 👀

Finally, the meme for this song is a fairly simple one, with some loops and stuff, but its only half the song- but the second half is basically the same as the first half, repeated, and I was like, well, why cut it up if it doesn't really need much extra animation? I can just do a little more editing and make a video for the whole song! You guys really enjoyed that little dancing cat animation I did when I looped it for like five minutes, which was requested a bunch lol, so I was like hey, I bet people would enjoy a longer video if I loop this stuff to cover the whole thing! So thats what I did and I think its super fun even if its a relatively simple video compared to some of my others which feature shorter and more complex animation, its like, a different vibe, you know! But this fits the vibe of the song really well. Super happy with it.

the manectric is in pokemon home by the way. just owning a nineteen year old copy of ruby or sapphire is like, boring. actually getting pokemon all the way up from ruby and sapphire to have them in home? now thats inchresting. I've got a bunch of old pokemon actually, I think probably my favourite is actually my very first Aggron, ARLIA. i think the oldest actual DATE on any of them is like 2007 or something tho cuz one of those moves, probably from gen 3 to 4, changed their birthdays. or maybe 2011? with bw? its been awhile. but it doesnt matter if pokemon home knows, _I_ know.

ayyyyy oh my god. so most of yall know i had a seizure last month and then the anti seizure medication they put me on fried my brain. ive been totally useless, but i couldnt miss this!!!! just barely made it in time, phew!

This video... is a little more abstract than some of my others! But the story I wanted to tell here, the theme I wanted to convey is... this almost adversarial dynamic between the memory of my younger self and my current self, if that makes any sense. Both in that, my self-destructive nature as a teenager threatened my old self, but my own current self's resentment of how i FELT at that time sometimes manifests as a resentment for myself during that time... Teenage me looks in the mirror and sees blood that isnt there, while in the future i look back impassively, so desensitized to my own misery i dont always even feel pity anymore. i remember, as a teenager, sometimes thinking about who i might be in the future and being angry and not even knowing why. But I was having a very difficult time. So this concept is... a little difficult to explain, but I hope I can convey the FEELINGS, at least.

Also, yes, I did the audio edit for this and yes you can use it! I really wanted to use my favourite parts of the song, so I layered the choruses together, cut in the end and intro bits and I actually recorded and added one extra little giggle in there for some oomph lol.
