This one is going to be hard to write. I’ve been with the show since late 2011, and have been doing these music extractions since 2012. This show and its music has meant so much to me, and I’m happy I was able to share it with the fandom at large these past 7 years.
The final ep includes more wonderful score from Anderson, and one final song from Ingram to round out the episode, season, and series.
William Anderson’s score makes me insanely emotional. We hear many returning cues one final time throughout the episode. I’ll go more into those in the track descriptions.
Daniel Ingram and Caleb Chan deliver us a final, emotional, beautiful song to end the series. There’s a ton to unpack there in those track descriptions.
Thank you all for your kind words over the years. Thank you. For one final time, let’s dive in!

The final episode of the final season ends, fittingly, with one last song with the entire main cast. It’s a beautiful sendoff to the series, and the final part continues to make me tear up.
We begin simple and subdued, with just Twilight’s vocals and acoustic guitar. It’s a start that is reminiscent of “Embrace the Magic” from “Legend of Everfree.” As the first verse continues, percussion, piano, and bass is added, as the energy picks up. This leads to the first chorus, with Twilight gaining some backing vocals of herself, and some lovely arpeggios played on strings and piano. Some brass is subtly added in the background as well.
The next verse, this time sung by Pinkie and Rainbow Dash. Mandolin is added into the mix, along with a little synth for Pinkie, a wonderful callback to her earliest songs back in Season 1. For Dash’s part, electric guitar is added, again harkening back to her main instrumentation. This leads us to the next chorus, this time with the whole cast joining in. The instrumentation is much more filled out this time, with tons of counter melodies, and of course beautiful harmonies in the vocals.
This leads us to the final verses, sung by Applejack, Rarity, and Fluttershy. It’s hard to hear in the full mix, especially behind the brass hits, but listen to the instrumental and you’ll hear banjo added to the instrumentation for Applejack, and for Rarity some glockenspiel is added to match her style of score. Finally, we reach Fluttershy. For her character, the orchestra pulls back, and is replaced by a much more simple and quiet instrumentation, featuring mainly acoustic guitar again, with a simple cello accompanying.
From there, we build the instrumentation back up to the final chorus. Here the full chorus joins in, for one huge, beautiful final rendition. Tons of vocal harmonies and counter melodies ensue, led clearly by the Mane 6’s voices. Listen closely, and you’ll hear the My Little Pony motif being played on a synth instrument during this scene, as the Mane 6 reveal all of the main and side characters from the show. It’s a beautiful little touch to this scene. The song continues to build up to Twilight’s final lines, where it pulls back again. The instrumentation simplifies to just some simple woodwinds, with one final hit played by them, a guitar, with one final rise of the theme on strings and brass. The series ends on the final chord of the theme on acoustic guitar and strings, with a little music box flourish as the book closes.
This was the perfect way to send the series off. Thank you Daniel and Caleb.

And so here we are, the final episode of Friendship is Magic, an epilogue set partially 20 years after the events of the previous two-parter. Much the the other two finale episodes, this one is packed with music. This includes more wonderful score from William Anderson, and one final song from Daniel Ingram to round out the episode, season, and series.

This is it, the final track of score from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I think this is a fitting title for it, for a variety of reasons.
For this big sendoff to the series' score, William Anderson reprises four iconic themes in an extremely grand way.
The track begins with a reprise of the lovely, emotional score that ended this season's "Between Dark and Dawn" in the track "Sunrise and Moonset." This was a beautiful piece of score, and it's wonderful to hear it once more time here.
From there, the score shifts over to a gorgeous rendition of Princess Twilight Sparkle's theme as she and her friends talk after the coronation. This offers a slightly different take on the theme, while keeping the main motif intact. Much like some of the previous theme reprises in this finale, it's backed by an acoustic guitar, which to me adds some wonderful additional emotion to these reprises. As the theme progresses, the instrumentation expands to a grand sendoff to the motif.
The next part certainly had me emotional. If you've followed my descriptions over the past 7 seasons, you'll know how much I talk about the "Magic of Friendship" leitmotif. It was first introduced all the way back in Season 3's "Magic Duel" in the track of the same name, which of course was the season I began ripping music from the series. It was used extensively as one of the main themes of Season 4, and has continued to be used since then for scenes relating to the magic of friendship. It's my favorite theme of the entire series, and certainly the one I consider to be the most iconic for FiM.
William Anderson using it in this final big scene with the Mane 6, reflecting on their friendships and how they have changed, as one of the final pieces of score for the episode, was just perfect. It begins with a simple instrumentation, and quickly builds to the full orchestra for an emotional, triumphant goodbye to the iconic motif. I loved everything about this.
From there, Celestia and Luna enter the scene one final time. For the final piece of returning score, William Anderson uses an amazing reimagining of Princess Celestia's leitmotif, which has followed her since the Season 4 premiere. This grand, regal theme it made all the more emotional here thanks to the instrumentation. Backed by an acoustic guitar, and some driving strings, it really ups the emotion and weight of this final scene. Just beautiful.
From there, the score interludes with some sentimental, yet triumphant score as we lead into the final song.
A huge thank you to William Anderson, Kelly Snow, Christopher Gee, and everyone else who contributed to this series' amazing score over the years. This show wouldn't have been the same without you, and the amount of thought, effort, and emotion put into your work has been very much appreciated by myself. I hope the work of myself and others over the years has brought more people to appreciate your work as well. Thank you.

Back in the future, Luster Dawn still believes that Twilight and her friends drifted apart after all those years. However, that assumption is proven false as they all arrive for their once-a-moon for their Council of Friendship meeting.
This emotional reunion scene, allowing us to see the Mane 6 much older, and having progressed years into their lives, is accompanied by some lovely, triumphant score. It fits the beauty of the scene perfectly. I love the emotional chord progression and melody of this one. It's William Anderson's final big piece of new score for the series, and I think it lives up to that. The feel, the instrumentation, and the emotion of this is wonderful.

Twilight and her friends talk about the change that is occurring, and they admit how scared they all are of it as well.
This track features a sad, emotional harpsichord and acoustic guitar piece, with some piano added, bringing back the instrumentation for earlier in the episode. More woodwinds are added in the second half of the track. I do enjoy the instrumentation of these emotional scenes, as much of it harkens back to some of the show's earlier styles.
The track ends with a short but sweet reprise of the "Magic of Friendship" motif, as Twilight mentions that she feels better knowing they are all sharing the same fears.

It's time. Princess Twilight Sparkle officially ascends to the throne of Equestria.
For this scene, William Anderson reprises another cue from earlier this season. This one was previously heard in "The Summer Sun Setback" at the end of the episode, when Twilight is speaking to the attendees of the celebration, and declares it to be a commemoration of Princesses Celestia and Luna going forward.
As Twilight takes the stage, things get a little chaotic in the score, and the event doesn't go as planned. We hear one final reprise of the Wonderbolts fanfare as they begin their flyover.

And so, we begin the final episode of the show with a time skip, many years into the future.
The episode begins with a triumphant, MLP-style fanfare. This leads into a march as grown-up Spike enters the throne room of Canterlot Castle.
Twilight's new pupil enters, and is accompanied by a simple woodwind and harp instrumentation, sounding just as unsure as her. As she begins to talk about wanting to study on her own, the energy of her score picks up. This leads to the big, blaring finish as she discounts the importance of Friendship, leading us to the final opening of the series.

Twilight tries to talk to each of her friends about her worries, but they're too busy preparing for her coronation.
We begin with some banjo score for the scene with Applejack. This leads to some frantic score for Pinkie Pie. Next, some peaceful woodwind music for Fluttershy. We next arrive at Rainbow Dash's scene. She's practicing a routine with Spitfire and Soarin, accompanied by a return of the iconic Wonderbolts Fanfare, and a little electric guitar riff at the end. Finally, we reach Rarity, who is accompanied by her trademark harpsichord, backed by woodwinds and strings.
The great thing about this scene is certainly being able to single out each of the character's unique instrumentations one final time. Giving each character their own sound is something William Anderson has done since early on, and it's fantastic to hear each of theirs one final time in this last episode.

With Twilight's friends seemingly not seeing her problem, and with her move to Canterlot fast approaching, Twilight feels more alone than ever.
Spike tries to cheer her up by suddenly wanting to bring his Power Ponies comic, but Twilight is already sulking, and the scene's score follows along.
The rest of the Mane 6 enter the scene, followed by a slow, bouncy tune. This transitions to more dramatic score as Twilight unleashes her frustration.

This includes more wonderful score from William Anderson, and one final song from Daniel Ingram to round out the episode, season, and series.
William Anderson’s score makes me insanely emotional. We hear many returning cues one final time throughout the episode. The most notable for me is one final, beautiful reprise of the Magic of Friendship motif near the end of the episode. It’s one of the final pieces of score in the episode. I was insanely excited to have it play a role in the episode’s score, and I’ll go more into that in that track’s description.
And Daniel Ingram and Caleb Chan deliver us a final, emotional, beautiful song to end the series. There’s a ton to unpack there, so I’ll say my piece in those track descriptions.
Closing the series out with the book closing, right at the end of one final song, with the MLP motif playing one finale time, made me tear up. It was the perfect way to end the series. Thank you all so much for sticking with me all this time, and I’ll be sure to continue to post any other stuff I can whenever the remaining specials are released. Thank you.
For one final time, let’s dive in!

As Twilight makes her last-minute preparations for her coronation, Celestia and Luna tell her how proud they are of her accomplishments.
The track begins with a short drop of Princess Twilight Sparkle's leitmotif.
This leads to an emotional returning motif as Celestia talks to Twilight. This theme was previous heard in this season's "The Summer Sun Setback," in the track "Things'll Turn Out Fine... Or Not!", when Celestia and luna talking to Twilight, and offer her some practice sessions on controlling the sun and moon. Given this scene is similar in Celestia talking to Twilight, and in the overall framing, its reuse here is very fitting.

Twilight and Spike are frantically packing for their move to Canterlot, and reflect on how much is changing for them, and their friends.
The track begins with some frantic arpeggios on strings and woodwinds to match the frantic nature of the scene.
As Twilight begins to reflect on the change taking place, the score shifts to a wonderful, emotional harpsichord and acoustic guitar piece. This, in a way, harkens back to some of the score from the first episode of the series. In an episode filled with musical callbacks, this one still has a lot of lovely new cues as well.

In the epic two-part conclusion to the season arc, Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow put their plan into motion, defeating “Grogar”, taking his and Discord’s magic, and bringing Equestria to its knees.
The final song of the season and series is saved for the final episode, so William Anderson’s score gets another 44 full minutes to shine. And as you might expect with the stakes so high, this episode’s score is full of high-energy action, with plenty of slower, more emotional pieces mixed in. The final song of the season and series is saved for the final episode, so William Anderson’s score gets another 44 full minutes to shine. And as you might expect with the stakes so high, this episode’s score is full of high-energy action, with plenty of slower, more emotional pieces mixed in. Between this and the final episode, numerous iconic themes from the show are brought back for one final hurrah, including the My Little Pony brand motif.
But inbetween those returning cues, there’s an insane about of wonderful and even beautiful score written just for this episode, and it’s well worth it to listen to every single track.

The trio of villains use the bell to take Grogar's remaining power, but he isn't who he seemed to be.
As Grogar enters the episode for his final appearance, we're greeted with one last rendition of his leitmotif.
Once Grogar is revealed to be Discord, there's a very short drop of his theme.

With Grogar's bell now also containing Discord's chaotic magic, the trio of villains tries it out on Cozy Glow.
As we cycle through dialogue for the three villains, we get to hear each of their leitmotifs make a return, beginning with Chrysalis', then Tirek, and finally Cozy. From there, the score becomes big and dramatic for Cozy's transformation, but stops suddenly multiple times as she fails to properly control the chaos.

Twilight appoints Spike as her royal advisor.
This was a wonderfully emotional scene, and that is in no short part due to the score. The track starts out with a lovely, simple rendition of Princess Twilight Sparkle's theme, played on woodwind and backed by an acoustic guitar. The motif is expanded upon here, with an additional new part added to the end.
Next, as Twilight appoints Spike to his new role, the score shifts to a different theme. Did you recognize this one? It's been used a few times before in the series, but its first use was all the way back in season 3's "Spike at Your Service." In that episode, it backed the scene where Spike was trying to tell a distracted Twilight that he can no longer be her faithful assistant. I'm quite impressed with William Anderson bringing this cue back for this scene, as it is so wonderfully fitting given the context of the first scene it appeared in, and also just because how long ago that episode was! It's an amazing piece of musical continuity.
The rendition in this episode is much more positive, vs the more sad, melancholy nature of the original. This is certainly helped by the continuation of the backing acoustic guitar. Between the lovely sound of the orchestration, and the context of the cue's first use, this is certainly an emotional track for a lovely scene.

William Anderson’s score makes me insanely emotional. We hear many returning cues one final time throughout the episode. I’ll go more into those in the track descriptions.

The episode's main framing device harkens back to one of my favorite episodes of the series, "The Saddle Row Review." For these interview-style scenes, William Anderson utilizes this fun, mostly hi-hat cue, mixed in with some hits on guitar. It's simple, but it fits the scenes well. This track is from the longer segment at the beginning of the episode.

In the final episode before the series finale, Big Mac and Sugar Belle prepare to pop the big question to each other, receiving plenty of “help” from their friends.
This is a beautiful and fun episode with some beautiful score to match. Overall I don’t have a ton to say about it here, but have a lot to say about some of the tracks in more detail. The episode offers many returning character and location leitmotifs, including those for Sugar Belle and Mrs. Cake, and features some absolutely wonderful new and returning score in the final act, which is emotional in the context. This was certainly one of those times where the music made me tear up a little bit.

Spike visits Mrs. Cake, who is insanely busy fulfilling a large order. This track features a more frantic version of Mrs. Cake's leitmotif, which was introduced back in season 7's "The Perfect Pear." Not the last theme we'll see reprised from that episode this week!

With Sugar Belle constantly missing the first apple clue, Discord becomes impatient and just makes the apples be able to walk and speak their clues. He dawns a military uniform, and gives them their marching orders, accompanied by this fitting march score.
