I Sold All My Rivian Stock 😬 HyperChange 2024-03-19 | It's going to be a rough 2 years for Rivian. I decided to sell my tiny position, as I think dilution is coming. Rivian has only ~$9B in cash, and is burning $1.4B per quarter. The company can't make money on it's $100K R1S & R1T, so I'm not convinced they will be able to make a profit on the $45,000 R2. I love the company and brand, but the business is really struggling right now, and I'm worried shareholders could get screwed if dilution ramps up. Tesla FSD vs Monorail (v11.4.9) HyperChange 2024-03-10 | Last night (Saturday, March 9th), we tested Tesla's FSD v11.4.9 with the legendary monorail challenge in Seattle. We used Jfilche's 2020 Model Y, equipped with FSD. The first try didn't go so well as it was swerving at a slightly uncomfortable high speed, so we disengaged. The second try was a great success as it swerved around the pillars. I'm still waiting for it to change lanes inbetween pillars/under the monorail, so testing shall continue! Why Apple Should Buy Rivian ✨ HyperChange 2024-03-08 | Rivian just unveiled it's new product lineup, the R2, R3 and R3W. The question is do they have enough cash to pull off getting these into production? Rivian's brand and product lineup are incredible, but the economics behind the company have struggled, as they continue to lose more than $1B per quarter. What is Apple came in and acquired Rivian? Apple just shut down its self-driving/electric vehicle project, maybe now is the perfect time. $10B-$20B to acquire & fund Rivian is a super small number for Apple. Rivian R2 & R3 Unveil, Initial Thoughts!! HyperChange 2024-03-07 | Rivian has officially unveiled it's R2, a $45,000 electric vehicle set to debut in 2026. It was an epic unveiling event, and very highly anticipated by the whole EV community. Rivian didn't just unveil it's R2, but CEO/Founder RJ Scaringe also unveiled a totally new, even smaller R3 platform. This was super unexpected, and paves way for the ultra-performance R3X. Waymo Is Crushing It HyperChange 2024-03-05 | California regulators have just approved a massive expansion of Google's Waymo self-driving taxi service. Now Waymo is approved for almost the whole Silicon Valley/SF/Bay Area peninsula as well as Los Angeles. It may take some time to roll out the service into these new geographies, but this is a very bullish sign of what's to come from Alphabet's moonshot. Originally, I was a huge Waymo skeptic, but now after a ride in SF a few months ago, I became a believer. It's smooth, fast, and very comfortable. Elon Should Control Tesla HyperChange 2024-01-16 | Tesla drama over the long-weekend as Elon Musk posted on X about his ownership and voting control of the company. Now that he's completed his 2018 compensation package, Elon isn't being paid to run Tesla, and has below 25% voting control. Now he's made it clear he wants at least 25% of the voting shares, but a Delaware court case is holding up his discussions with the board of directors to make this happen. Elon Musk noted how strong energy gross margins were on the call, and insinuated strength in these businesses will continue. Rivian is working on an E-Bike 🚲💫 HyperChange 2023-12-27 | Rivian is apparently working on an E-Bike concept, that could launch under a different/new brand. This has been confirmed by RJ Scaringe, saying that a team of engineers is working on an electric bike product for Rivian. It's unclear if the bike would have pedals and to what extent it would be battery powered. I love this concept and think it fits in perfectly with the Rivian adventure brand niche. I'm a big fan and can't wait to learn more about this when the company is ready. Rivian Stock Analysis December 2023 🤓📊 HyperChange 2023-12-23 | Rivian has successfully launched it's R1T, R1S and delivery van products, they are amazing. But financially, the company is in a difficult situation. Cash burn is still above $1B per quarter, and the company will need billions more to fund the R2 factory. Going forward it will be fascinating to see the company walk the tightrope between conserving cash, growth and the long march towards profitability. Especially right as the Cybertruck launches as competition. Tesla Robovan for Packages & People 💫 HyperChange 2023-12-21 | Moonshot Monday!! From urban package deliveries, to minbus ride-sharing, an autonomous Tesla Robovan has massive potential. Rivian's electric delivery van concept has delivered 10,000 units to Amazon and on the cusp of expanding to numerous other companies (like AT&T). Elon Musk has hinted at a highly configurable robovan concept for people and cargo in the past. If he does indeed launch it, I think it would crush Rivian's model and could quickly ramp to 100,000s of units per year between package delivery, camper vans and urban ridesharing/minibus. Why Tesla Shouldnt Do A Stock Buyback HyperChange 2022-10-25 | Tesla is floating the idea of a $5-10B stock buyback. I wanted to give my thoughts. Although Tesla's $5.1B of operating cashflow is impressive, it's also good for Tesla to operate prudently with a cash cushion in case of a major global recession or some other unforeseen event. If it's true the only bottleneck is engineers not capital, then I may be able to be convinced in a small buyback.
