Twenty months ago, I turned a project called Golden Fire which has proven to be (so far) the most popular video on my channel...so I thought I revisit the project and come up with something different but vaguely along the same lines.
The interior woodturning project is a coloured (dyed/stained) sycamore wall hanging that he been textured and accented with gold gilt. It's quite a simple technique, using three off centre positions, but the effect is fabulous.
For the colour, I used Intrinsic Dyes (see msabansmith.com for purchased options (UK only)), the gold gilt was Liberon 'Trianon' and the texturing tool was a Dremel. I turned most of it with a Robert Sorby half inch bowl gouge.
Ideal for an interior design use, I'm more than pleased with how the project has turned out....and if there are any interior designers watching - drop me a line, the piece will be for sale!
