This weekend’s live jam challenge of the „Hardware Jams“ Facebook group was to create „something that captures what the 80ies mean to you“.
As I was a teenager in the 80ies, this was most likely the decade that influenced me most during my life. There were so many things that shaped me and socialized me, not least the music.
Doing a jam in an 80ies style proved to be harder than expected - I got lost in old music, many styles, too many ideas and came up with quite a lot of sketches, too many, to be honest, and did not seem to be able to reduce them to only one „track-like“ jam, that did not sound like one the well-known songs of that era. So this weekends’ jam does not really have a track character, it is more a sequence of ideas. Bouncing basslines, some chiptune DA-DA, a bit of distorted guitar, a lot of reverb, some bad played synth leads and a bit of disturbing dark vibes - 10% of that age are there. Unfortunately, it is missing vocals, that were essential in the 80ies.
