Jim Leonard | 8088 Corruption vs. 8088 Domination @JimLeonard | Uploaded June 2014 | Updated October 2024, 4 hours ago.
A quick comparison of how the two FMV-on-8088 techs compare. (For more information on what this is, search for "8088 Corruption" or "8088 Domination".)
The 2004 Corruption tech never drops a frame due to the way it was designed, but there is obvious loss of fine detail. The 2014 Domination tech drops portions of frames when available CPU/memory bandwidth is exhausted, but because it uses graphics mode, there is much more fine detail (you can read expressions on faces, for example).
Being the author of both systems, I prefer the 2014 Domination tech, but I admit there is a certain charm in using text mode for "graphics". I will be releasing my encoders for both systems in a few weeks.
