Matt Lange (head of audio content at Avid) has put together 808 Mutations—a collection of futuristic and hybrid 808 subs for the Pro Tools | PlayCell virtual instrument as well as the raw audio samples themselves. As opposed to a 40-year-old plastic drum machine, these were made with some more modern outboard synths and drum machines, as well as a smattering of some nice tube outboard to give them some extra weight. Sonic Drop is a content program that delivers a mix of inspiring new samples, loops, and instrument presets to all Pro Tools subscribers (monthly and annual) and current perpetual license holders at no additional cost.
